Bucket List Rules

1. Think about all of the things that you would like to achieve and experience before you kick the bucket – this is your bucket list or list of things to do before you die.

2. You might want to section your list into different areas: experiences, movies, shows, stories, music, etc.

3. It is a strange fact that the people who have accomplished the most things in life tend to have the biggest number of items still left in their buckets. People with no goals in the future also tend to have no accomplishments in their past.

4. If you are struggling to think of items, try the following visualisations… Imagine that you are attending a school reunion – what would you like to be able to tell your old classmates about your life? Imagine the eulogies at your funeral – what would you want people to remember about you?

5. Nothing is too strange, silly, pointless, small, big, or weird to add to the bucket list. You should feel free to include anything at all. But remember, this is a list for you to strive towards so it would be wise to avoid goals that are physically impossible.

6. You should not delete something from your list after you have accomplished it because this was once your goal so it must remain even if it now seems silly or pointless.

7. You should not delete something simply because it becomes too difficult – you should never give up on your goals.

8. You should only ever delete something if it becomes physically impossible – a goal that cannot ever be reached due to death or other constraints would only serve to remind you of your loss so it is better for it to be deleted.

9. You can modify a goal before it is achieved if you change your mind or if it becomes less important to you.

10. You should indicate when each item on your list has been achieved or experienced. If you achieve or experience something that is not on your list but would have been if you had thought of it before you did it, feel free to add it anyway.
